I think that this statement means that you should take care of yourself. Never do something thats bad for you, like do drugs and stuff. If you are good and always choose the right thn everything else will fall into palce. If you drink alcohol, you are not taking good care of yourself. Alcohol and drugs bring you down and its not good for yourself.
